A Framed Rose for Mom

I love making paper roses from the Fancy Flower punch. I also had a Sizzix frame die I had not used and decided to make a card for Mother’s Day. I also used the Sizzix Square Scallop Frame die to create the card base and I layered a Pear Pizzazz DSP background to the front, added the Blushing Bride frame then embellished with small quilled roses and a large rose. The Beautiful Wings butterflies also were added with pearls. The sentiment is stamped with the Four Frames rose frame. I used a blender pen and my Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzazz stamp pads to color the roses on the sentiment frame. This set is available until the end of the month. For the Graduate

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments we’re celebrating graduates. Create any project – card, gift set, card holder, money holder, scrapbook page, or any 3D item with a graduation theme. For my project I wanted to make a gift set using my Top Not die. I used Basic Black, Silver and Whisper White card stock. After die cutting the Basic Black Top Notes I textured them with the Texture Plates Kit #4 Distressed plate. I die cut two more Top Notes in Silver to outline the black ones. Cut along he perforated line on the Basic Black Top Note then adhere the silver Top Note behind the Basic Black one. The graduation cap silhouette is one I created. See below for template. I rolled some Whisper White paper for the diploma and tied with Basic Black Satin ribbon. I then stamped the sentiment (Curly Cute) and created the banner.

I created the card to hold a gift card. I used the Two-step owl punch and created the cap from silver card stock. The diploma is a strip of Whisper White then wrapped with retired silver cording. I then adhered the owl to circle layers with dimensionals.

Easter Favors to dress up your party

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments we have an Easter theme challenge. Create any Easter project – cards, 3D projects, party favors, baskets, gift sets…you get the idea. There are so many projects you can create to dress up this holiday.

For this challenge I created a small bunny basket perfect for Easter candy. I printed the chocolate bunny, Spring Vintage DSP and sentiment from My Digital Studio. I dressed him up with ivory grosgrain ribbon and adhered him to the front of the box. I punched the sentiment with the oval punch and layered it over a Regal Rose Scallop oval. I modified this box template by cutting off the back and made a handle from Regal Rose CS with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon border punch.

My other project is the carrot box made with Stampin’ Up’s Petal Cone die. Love this die. I textured the Pumpkin Pie CS with Texture Plates Kit #4. The carrot top was created by cutting two Old Olive banners in half length-wise and curling them around a paper piercing tool. I adhered them with mini glue dots to the inside of the flaps so the flaps could still be folded under each other to close the box. The bunny was stamped and clear embossed then punched with 1-3/8 circle punch then layers on Peach Parfait DSP from the Hostess level 1 paper pack. For the larger scallop I used Old Olive Polka dot DSP from Jolly Holiday.

Shadow Box Card for Mom

This week’s challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments is a shadow box technique challenge. There are a couple of ways to create these cards and the possibilities are endless for both. See below for video tutorials on both shadow box techniques.

I wanted to create a card that would open like a gift so I went with the second technique. I had a great time making my mother’s day card. I have a printer that will print to the edge of the paper so I printed my DSP using My Digital Studio. I used the Elegant Soiree digital DSP and printed on both sides of the paper. I did use the rubber stamp set Nature Walk for the images and used a blender pen with Marina Mist classic ink pad to color the flowers on the image. The layers for the inside of my card were created with Sizzix dies and SU punches. The sentiments are from the retired stamp sets Vintage Labels and Fancy Flexible Phrases. Paris in the Spring

Do you ever get an idea for a project you can’t get out of your head and you have to create it? Well this happened with an idea to make an Eiffel Tower shaped box using the image from the Artistic Etchings digital stamp set because then I can make it whatever size I like. I finally decided to create the box for this week’s challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Splash Challenge. The colors are Poppy Parade, Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzazz. These colors together remind me of spring.

I created the front of the box on My Digital Studio. I used the Blushing Bride polka dot background and enlarged the Eiffel Tower and colored it Pear Pizzaz. I then created an outline template of the tower and cut it out. I made the front and bottom of the box from chip board then adhered the Eiffel Tower image/DSP on the front and trimmed any uneven edges. The bottom of the box is slightly smaller so the top can fit over the sides from the bottom. The sides of the box are made from Very Vanilla CS. I also finished the inside with Very Vanilla CS and grosgrain ribbon. I plan on creating a tutorial for this box. As soon as complete it I’ll post it.

For the card I stamped the tower in Versamark and Pear Pizzazz ink then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. The card also features Poppy Parade DSP from the In Color Hostess Level One paper pack. I embellished the box and the card with buttons created with the Sizzlit Buttons #5 die. I also embellished with loads of pearls. I hope these colors inspire you to create a project for spring.

No Stamping Card

This week’s challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments is to create a project with dies…any dies. With the Big Shot I created this card inspired by Sandi Maciver. I used shabby chic colors again – Rose Red, Crumb Cake, and Pink Pirouette. The base of the card was created with the Scallop Square die them embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder. The Crumb Cake layer was created with the Circle Scallops #2 die then embossed with the Elegant Lines embossing folder. The flower was created with the Cherry Blossom Embosslit and the butterflies were created with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit. Embosslits Dies are great because they simultaneously cut and emboss. Love the Embosslits. The swirls were created with Swirls Scribble Sizzlits die.

For some shimmer I smooched the card with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch. I hope you can see the shimmer. I love this Vanilla Shimmer Smooch because it’s just the right amount of shine and so easy to apply. Make sure you use the Color Catcher to prevent your work area from ink overspray. I then embellished with basic pearls and Victoria crochet trim ribbon. Very easy card to make.

It’s a great card to demo at workshops because it shows the versatility of the Big Shot. I hope my card inspires you to get out your dies out and participate in the challenge.

Simple Valentine Cards

I created these simple Valentine cards for a class. These were very easy for my guests and they loved them. These two-layer cards showcased the Big Shot for the embossed backgrounds. I love the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder and combines well with the Artistic Etchings stamp set. I stamped the medallion in Riding Hood Red on Very Vanilla CS to make the background. I then stamped the Eiffel Tower, glued the Red Glitter heart atop the tower and added a bit of Scallop Trim to the bottom and stamped ‘AMOUR’. I also tore the edges of the Very Vanilla CS and sponged the edges in Riding Hood Red. For the finishing touch, I adhered pearls and rhinestones to the corners.

For the “Just my Type” card I used the Texture Plates Kit #4 which I had not used for awhile. This set has a wonderful typed background which coordinates perfectly with the vintage typewriter image from Puns from the Past and the Newsprint DSP. I punched the border of the Newsprint layer and sponged the edges in black. I love the Tiny Tags stamp set and Medium Jewelry punch. These little tags add so much to any card. I adhered with the mini glue dots the tags underneath the knot of the ribbon. I stamped the typewriter image on Very Vanilla CS then punched it out with the Decorative Label Punch. I also punched another Decorative Label in black and framed the Typewriter image. I added the Red glitter heart to the top of the typewriter image and the pearls to the corners.

One of my goals this year is to finish the inside of my cards as I did below. It just looks so much neater and gives you another opportunity to use more images from a stamp set.

Flirty Valentine Corset Card

For this week’s Hand Stamped Sentiments ribbon and lace challenge I created this corset template. The template is sized to fit into a SU medium envelope (5-3/4″ x 4-3/8″). I traced the corset on Very Vanilla CS then ran it through my Big Shot with the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder and sponged it with Riding Hood Red ink. I used the 5/8″ Victoria crochet trim as lace. I put a strip of stick tape on the back of the crochet trim and pleated it as I adhered the trim. I used my Crop-a-dile Big Bite to set the 1/8″ eyelets and used grosgrain ribbon to lace the corset. The regular hand-held Crop-a-dile will not work because it doesn’t reach. You can also use a regular eyelet setter kit. It was a lot fun creating this card. The possibilities are endless in creating this card. You can use different embossing folders, different colored card stock, clear rhinestones and different ribbons.

I create these as invitations for hens night, bachelorette or bridal showers. Got to my Etsy shop to order and request your custom color.

Bring on the Bling!

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments we have a fun challenge – Bring on the Bling! Hop on over and take the challenge. I’d love to see your shiny creation.

This time of year always makes me think of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s and her iconic little black dress. With New Year’s Eve coming up I know we’ll all have some sort of get-together and the little black dress is perfect for your cocktail or dinner party. Looking elegant is only a little black dress away. Inspired and in celebration of Audrey I made this dress card with rhinestones, silver paper and ribbon. I made a template, traced it in on Basic Black CS, cut it out with paper snips then ran it through my Big Shot with the Perfect Details swirl Texturz plate. I hope you can see the texture in the photo. I made the side ruffles out of vellum paper. I used Very Vanilla satin ribbon for the waist sash and made a rose also from the Very Vanilla satin ribbon and embellished the rose with a clear rhinestone. I’ll post a tutorial for the dress later this week.

I cut a Basic Black and silver paper layer. There is another Basic Black layer I punched the edge with the Scallop border punch. I also embellished with Very Vanilla and Black satin ribbon. I stamped the frame and sentiment with Versamark then embossed with silver embossing powder. The card is finished with three sizes of rhinestones.

Snowflakes in San Antonio

I hope all of you have mailed your Christmas cards and have your shopping done. As for me all my cards are done. I’m just in the process of addressing. I hope to get these in the mail by Wednesday. Finally the weather here has turned cold. It’s not so motivating to get Christmas activities completed when it’s warm outside. Now it feels like Christmas. Although it doesn’t normally snow here in San Antonio I can still wish for a white Christmas or at least on my Christmas cards. So here at my craft table there are snowflakes in San Antonio. This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments we have a snowflake theme challenge. Create any project with snowflakes. You’re welcome to use any brand products. I look forward to seeing your projects. I’ve been wanting to use the Shimmery White paper from SU and my snowflake die and this challenge was perfect. I love the elegance of the Shimmery White paper. So beautiful! I hope you can see how the paper shimmers in my card below. This card was very easy to create. I embossed the front of my card with the Northern Flurry embossing folder and used SU Dazzling Diamonds on the embossed and the die cut snowflakes. I also embellished them with the self-adhesive Basic Pearls. These are the perfect embellishment for your Christmas cards. I adhered the die cut snowflake with Dimensionals and added a Very Vanilla satin bow. The embellishment is from the Snow Swirled stamp set and is embossed in silver.
