Happy Mother’s Day Doily card

Don’t forget mom or the one who cared for you like mom.  My mom passed away many years ago and my grandmother and aunt were there for me and my siblings.  My grandmother has also passed away but I still have my dear aunt.  She’s the one who now cares for me like my mom.  So to all moms and those who have given love, care and support like a mom, Happy Mother’s Day and know we appreciate all you do.

This week’s challenge is a color challenge- Summer Starfruit, Real Red, Bashful Blue, Basic Black.  These colors were suggested by Bobbie Trost on our Hand Stamped Sentiments design team.  She did a great job with this color combo.  I would not have thought to put these colors together.  I love them!

I hope these colors inspire you to create and share your project with us on Hand Stamped Sentiments.

Happy Mother’s Day Peacock card

Has spring arrived where you live?  Here in San Antonio it gets warm then it gets cold but I know when May arrives it will be warm everyday.  I love spring and it inspired me to create this card with the sketch we’re featuring at Hand Stamped Sentiments.

I used the peacock from the World  Treasures stamp set for the focal point of my card.  I first stamped it in More Mustard then used my 2-3/8 Inch Scallop Circle Punch to punch the peacock out.  I stamped the peacock again in Island Indigo and cut out the body to layer over the More Mustard.  The rhinestones are colored with a Sharpie to match the Island Indigo.  The sentiment is stamped with Island Indigo from the Teeny Tiny Wishes and die cut with the Bitty Banners Framelits die.  The layers are Fan Fair DSP, Crumb Cake and Island Indigo.    I adhered the Island Indigo 3/8″ ruffled ribbon and the Large Scallop Island Indigo to the Crumb Cake layer.  It’s also embellished with basic rhinestones colored with a Sharpie.

A Framed Rose for Mom

I love making paper roses from the Fancy Flower punch.  I also had a Sizzix frame die I had not used and decided to make a card for Mother’s Day.  I also used the Sizzix Square Scallop Frame die to create the card base and I layered a Pear Pizzazz DSP background to the front, added the Blushing Bride frame then embellished with small quilled roses and a large rose.  The Beautiful Wings butterflies also were added with pearls.  The sentiment is stamped with the Four Frames rose frame.  I used a blender pen and my Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzazz stamp pads to color the roses on the sentiment frame.   This set is available until the end of the month.  It’s a sneak peek from the new Stampin’ Up! Idea Book & Catalog for 2011-2012.  After April 30th you’ll have to wait until July to purchase.  Click here for more info.

This is one of the samples I’ll be showing at my workshop on Saturday.  If you live in San Antonio and would like to attend please email me.  I’ll be demonstrating how to make the large rose and quilled roses.  Another reminder, the Occasions mini catalog expires at the end of the month and we’ll have a new summer mini.  Visit me tomorrow for a sneak peak from the Summer mini catalog.
