Sea of Love Valentine Card

How these days in January make me long for the beach.  I guess I shouldn’t complain since the weather here has been sunny and in the 70’s but I just can’t help thinking of long summer days at the beach.  This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments we have a beach theme but I still have Valentine’s day on the brain.  So when I began to think of what to create for this challenge I thought of the sea…love…Eureka!!…The Sea of Love!  So here’s my interpretation of this week’s beach theme challenge.

Sea of Love Fish Punch Art Valentine Card

I used the Lots of Love Letterpress plate for the background.  I inked it up with Versamark then ran it through the Big Shot and to add sparkle I heat embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder.  The sentiment is stamped in Indigo Blue and also heat embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder.

I hope you can see how the Sea of Love  shimmers with the Iridescent Ice.  The fish are made with various Stampin’ Up! heart punches.  I couldn’t resist the wiggle eyes.  The sand is Crumb Cake card stock sponged with Soft Suede ink.  This card would be perfect to give to your hubby or wife.  Either way love is in the air or rather the sea.

I hope you’re inspired to join us this week with your beach themed creation.  Hop on over to HSS for more inspiration from our very talented design team.

No calorie birthday cake

The slice of cake I made for you today has no calories.  It’s a fun box you can decorate as a party favor or to fill with goodies or a gift card.  The box is made from a die I’ve had for a while and it was time to use it.  One of the great things about the Big Shot is you can use different kinds of dies from different manufacturers.  I die cut the cake slice then embossed with the Finial Press Folder.  I decorated the slice with doilies punched from the new Doily Triple Layer Punch, pearls and ribbon.  I served up my cake slice on a circle scallop plate I embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots folder.  The candle is made with Very Vanilla card stock then decorated with a strip of Melon Mambo.  I freehand the flame using Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight card stock.  Making this cake slice was a lot of fun.

If you’d like to make a cake slice box but don’t have a die click here for a template.

A Framed Rose for Mom

I love making paper roses from the Fancy Flower punch.  I also had a Sizzix frame die I had not used and decided to make a card for Mother’s Day.  I also used the Sizzix Square Scallop Frame die to create the card base and I layered a Pear Pizzazz DSP background to the front, added the Blushing Bride frame then embellished with small quilled roses and a large rose.  The Beautiful Wings butterflies also were added with pearls.  The sentiment is stamped with the Four Frames rose frame.  I used a blender pen and my Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzazz stamp pads to color the roses on the sentiment frame.   This set is available until the end of the month.  It’s a sneak peek from the new Stampin’ Up! Idea Book & Catalog for 2011-2012.  After April 30th you’ll have to wait until July to purchase.  Click here for more info.

This is one of the samples I’ll be showing at my workshop on Saturday.  If you live in San Antonio and would like to attend please email me.  I’ll be demonstrating how to make the large rose and quilled roses.  Another reminder, the Occasions mini catalog expires at the end of the month and we’ll have a new summer mini.  Visit me tomorrow for a sneak peak from the Summer mini catalog.

Very Merry Snowflakes PPA17 Sketch Challenge

This card was created for this week’s PPA sketch challenge by Margaret Moody, a talented pal known for her clean layouts and stunning design.  I wanted to use my sister’s new stamp set Snow Swirled.  I love this stamp set.  I used the snowflake stamp and some scraps leftover from my Holiday Card Event.  Red and green are the traditional colors for Christmas so I decided to do my take on this card with the snowflake background and a strip of textured paper done with the Petals-A-Plenty Stampin’ Up! Textured Impressions Folder for the Big Shot. I like the way my card turned out.  Let me know what you think.
