Dreaming of a White Christmas with a Fancy Fold Christmas Tree Card

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments the challenge is fancy fold cards.  I’ve been wanting to make the Christmas tree card featured on page 181 of the Stampin’ Up! Idea book and Catalog.  I made the card in Whisper White and the sentiments stamped in Cherry Cobbler.  I also used the Snowflake Soiree stamp set.  The snowflake are stamped with versamark, heat and stick powder and glittered with Dazzling Diamonds.  I also used the Dazzling Details on the edges of the tree.  I wish you could see the card in person.  So much sparkle!

Inked Embossing Folder Technique

This week’s Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge is a technique challenge – Inked Embossing Folder Technique.  I wasn’t sure if I would like it but I tried it and guess what?  I LOVE IT!  If you would like to learn how to do this technique SCS has a tutorial here.

I used the Lacy Brocade embossing folder and inked it in Basic Gray.  I love this new folder.  It’s so vintage-looking.  This card came together very fast.  For the flower I punched 6  flowers with the Blossom punch then lightly sprayed with water.  This is to make them easier to fold.  I then stacked the layers then made a hole with my paper piercer then used a brad to keep the flower together.  The butterflies are stamped with Papillion Potpourri then punched with the Elegant Butterfly punch.   The sentiment is from the From my Heart stamp set.  For that extra sparkle I added rhinestones.  Super easy!

Now back to the project I want to share with you.  This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments we have a technique challenge.  I had never done the Dazzling Diamond Dust technique before and it was so fun and easy!  Here’s a link to a  tutorial on SCS.   Click to enlarge the photo so you can see how the flower image shimmers.

I used the flower image from Bordering on Romance stamp set.  I stamped it with black StayzOn on Very Vanilla card stock then used my blender pens and Primrose Petals and Gumball Green ink pads to color the image.  I then embossed it with the oval from the  Set Designer Frames Textured Impressions Embossing Folder Die.  I tore around the edges for a distressed look.    I then heat embossed the whole image layer with Iridescent Ice Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  The layers are cut from the Label Framelits.  I used the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder for the background.  The butterflies are die cut using the Beautiful Wings Stampin’ Up! Embosslits Die.  I used the Loving Thoughts stamp set for my sentiment.  I embellished with 5/8 Inch Crochet Trim Victoria ribbon and Antique brad.  I also used Basic Pearls.

Another Happy Birthday Card

Here it is another week and another Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge.  Wow!  Where does the week go!?  For this week the challenge is paper pleating.  There are so many great ways to fold paper and use it to embellish any project.  For inspiration I CASED a card from the new Stampin’ Up! Idea Book and Catalog.  I used Summer Starfruit cardstock with Pool Party.  I love this combo!  Summer Starfruit is fast becoming one of my favs.  I stamped my cake image on watercolor paper and used a blender pen and pads to color the banners on the cake.  I embellished the cake with butterflies die cut from the Embosslit Beautiful Wings.  To add sparkle to them I added Dazzling Details to the wings.  The DSP is from Patio Party and the sentiment is from Itty Bitty Banners.  The banner is die cut with the coordinating Bitty Banners Framelits.  For a soft layer in the color Pool Party I die cut a doily using the Paper Doily Sizzlit.  Instead of ribbon I cut a strip of Summer Starfruit and used the Simply Scored Scoring Tool to score my paper to make it easier to pleat.  If you haven’t used the Simply Scored Scoring Tool you need to!  It’s so easy to use and in my opinion the best scoring tool on the market.

Happy Mother’s day

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments we ha have a Black Magic Technique challenge.  I wanted to use the Summer Smooches suite to create my Mother’s Day card.   I stamped the images in white StayzOn on the Island Indigo the colored it with watercolor pencils.  Click here for a tutorial on this fun technique.  I punched a Real Read circle and centered a Summer Smooch brad.  I punched in Lucky Limeade with the Five Petal Punch and trimmed so it would look like leaves.  After I colored the image I added the white dots with a white gel pen.

Everybunny Easter Watercolor Card

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments we have a watercolor technique challenge.  With Easter a few weeks awayI used the Everybunny stamp set to create this card.  I used blender pens and stamp pads to color the bunny image.  I stamped it with black StayzOn then colored away.  I used a bright color combination of Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo and Concord Grape.  I apologize for the photo.  My camera is still out for repair and had to take the photo with my iPhone.  The colors don’t show up true.

Valentine Easel Shaker Card

This week’s challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments is a technique challenge – Shaker Cards!  I’ve never made this type of card but since I have the Stampin’ Up! Heart Framelits it was easy to make using two different sizes of heart dies to make the red heart frame for the window.  For the easel base I used the large scallop heart framelit.  The cute stamped image is from the Take it to Heart stamp set featured in the new occasions mini.  Can you guess how I created the background?  I used the Lots of Love Letterpress plate.  The letter press embosses and can also ink at the same time.  For a more subtle background you don’t have to ink it up.  The shaker heart is filled with the scrap small hearts after using the Pinking Hearts border punch.  A bit of mica flakes is also mixed with the small hearts to add  some additional sparkle.

Rocking Christmas Card

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments we have a fun challenge – Fancy Fold Cards.   With only few more days left till Christmas I decided to make another Christmas card but with a rocking twist.  I had seen this type of card out in internet land and decided to make a rocking Christmas card.  You can view a tutorial for making this card here.  They’re so easy to create!  I cut an Early Espresso 5″ circle and a 4-1/2″ Soft Suede circle with my Circle Scissor Plus then folded them in half and glued them together.

The Scallop Circle Cherry Cobbler layer is embossed with the Snow Burst embossing folder and heat embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder.  I used the Scallop Circle and Scallop Circle #2 dies to cut the Cherry Cobbler Scallop Circle and the Lucky Limeade Scallop Circle.  The Gift image is stamped on watercolor paper with brown StayzOn and colored with ink pads and a blender pen.  I used the Circle Scissor Plus to cut out this layer at 2-3/4″ .  To add some more sparkle I framed it with Champagne Glass glitter.  I added an Old Olive button and stamped ‘Merry Christmas’ in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla.

For the back of the card I stamped the bird and ornament image on water color paper then punched with the ornament punch.  I also used ink pads and a blender pen to color.  I stamped snowflakes and heat embossed them in gold along with the sentiment.

Paris and Bargello Technique

This week on Hand Stamped Sentiments we have a technique challenge and the technique is Bargello.  Bargello is actually a  type of needlepoint embroidery.  It consists of upright flat stitches laid in a mathematical pattern to create motifs. The name originates from a series of chairs found in the Bargello palace in Florence, which have a “flame stitch” pattern.  Such interesting patterns can also be made with paper strips.

I knew I wanted to use Bravo Burgundy and Old Olive so I came up with this card using the Artistic Etchings and Established Elegance stamp sets.  The paper strips are from the Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper.  Love all the pretty patterns.    I also used the oval frame from the Set Designer Frames Textured Impressions Embossing Folder Die to frame the Eiffel tower image.  The image is stamped with Early Espresso, Versamark and heat embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder.  The rosette is finished with Dazzling Details to add some sparkle.  The bow is centered with an antique brad.
