Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Splash Challenge 14

This week over at HSS we’re playing with a fun and bright color combination – Old Olive, Regal Rose, Melon Mambo, So Saffron.  For this challenge I used My Digital Studio to create this thank you card.  Using the software is so easy!  With so many papers, embellishments and stamps it’s so easy to create.  This is my first card and wasn’t sure how to print the card.  I found helpful information at SCS at this forum.  For more information on My Digital Studio click here.  Here is my creation.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Inspiration Challenge 11

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments we have an inspiration challenge from Pottery Barn – Sea Shells.  There are so many thoughts that come to mind when I see the photo – serenity and peace are two I think of immediately.  My friend’s mother-in-law passed away this past weekend and I needed to make a sympathy card for her so this challenge provided inspiration.  I stamped the shells in Versamark and embossed them with clear embossing powder, used My Digital Studio for the sentiment and printed it on vellum.  I used the White Shimmery paper which you should be able to see when you enlarge the photo.  I love this paper it’s just the right amount of shimmer.  Erin the other designer on our Hand Stamped Sentiments design team gave me a few sheets of this paper and I love it.  I’ll need to purchase some because it will add a touch of elegance to any project.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Splash Challenge

This past Sunday the Olympics ended and to celebrate the athletes and the games over at Hand Stamped Sentiments we’re doing a color challenge with the graphic colors of these winter games – Bashful Blue, Not Quite Navy, Glorious Green, Green Galore, Brilliant Blue.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Splash Challenge

I’m really liking My Digital Studio software.  I was also inspired by the Olympic rings so I created the circles for this card with the software then punched them out with SU 1-3/8″ circle punch then embellished them.  The card I created for this challenge would be perfect for a birthday or graduation.

Bird chirping weather

Today is a beautiful sunny day in San Antonio.  The birds are chirping and you can see that spring is slowly coming.  A few days ago on Tuesday it was a different story.  It was actually snowing.  Big beautiful flakes were falling and my husband and I were so excited because snow is not something we see where we live.  The snow fell for about 20 or 30 minutes and then it was gone.  But it was a moment where you stand at the window and take it all in because you never know when you’ll see something so beautiful and serene.  Today the sun is shining, still cold, but you can hear the birds chirping and you’re counting the days for spring.  It’s almost here!

Inspired by the sunny weather I created this Easter birdhouse card.   I had run across this birdhouse card on Janet’s blog.  You can also find the template there.  I changed it up and put a different roof on mine.  Here is my card.  I was also surprised to see that on PPA they are having an inspiration challenge about birds so I am also going to post my card there for their PPA31- An Inspiration Challenge.  All the background papers are printed from My Digital Studio’s Sweat Pea kit.

Hand Stamped Sentiments week 4 – Sketch Challenge

This week at HSS we’re having a sketch challenge.  This sketch is featured in the March Success, Stampin’ Up!’s magazine for demonstrators.  This magazine is one of the freebies you receive as a demonstrator which is a big plus because many projects are featured to give you ideas and it also provides tips on running your business from successful demonstrators.  Right now is a great time to become a demonstrator because the starter kit is discounted 15%.  See my blog entry Sale-a-bration for hobby stampers for more details.   Now on to the project.  As I mentioned we’re having a sketch challenge and I have been wanting to use my new stamp set Picnic Parade.  This stamp set is a hostess level 2 set and can only be earned by holding a workshop with sales of at least $300.  It’s a great value because it contains 15 stamps!  So versatile.  It can be used for so many occasions – Easter, Thank you, Get well, Hello, Welcome…  I had so much fun putting my project together.

First, I stamped the images on Whisper White card stock in Timber Brown StayzOn ink.  I used my SU water color pencils and blender pen to color in the images.  I wanted a soft spring look and the water color pencils provided just the look I was after.

I then used my paper snips to cut out the bunny and the basket.  I used the Extra Large Fancy Flower punch to punch the flower then sponged the edges with Pretty in Pink classic ink.  I also had a scrap from the Bashful Blue soft flower background I printed using My Digital Studio for my Pride and Prejudice card and used this for the center of my extra large Fancy Flower.

Before adhereing the top and bottom of my card to the base I adhered the top and bottom then placed my ribbon before adhering to the base.  I used SNAIL to adhere the large flower on the main image then adhered the bunny and the basket with dimensionals.  The bottom of the card is the  striped DSP from the Sale-a-bration Welcome Neighbor Paper Pad for the bottom of the card.  Stamped my sentiment in Timber Brown StayzOn ink so the browns would match.

That’s it.  Super easy and lots of fun!  I hope you’re inspired to start your spring projects.

Good things come in small packages

I have been having fun making these cute gift boxes with stamp sets Tiny Tags, Vintage Vogue and Chocolate Bunny.  I also used the Build a Flower and  Pillow Box dies for the Big Shot.  These cute boxes are perfect for small gifts like candy treats or for jewelry like SU’s Simply Adorned bracelets, necklaces and charms.

Bunny Box

Click here for bunny box template.  I printed the template on Very Vanilla CS then cut it out.  I decorated the front and the sides of the box with following.

Chocolate Bunny and flowers from Vintage Vogue – I stamped the Chocolate Bunny with Chocolate Chip on Very Vanilla CS then cut him out.  I stamped the Vintage Vogue flowers with So Saffron and Pretty Pink on Very Vanilla CS then cut them out.

The small flowers on the green branch were punched using the Trio Flower punch and the branch with leaves was stamped using the Two-Step Bird Punch.  The Pretty in Pink egg was punched using the Wide Oval punch then decorated with the flowers and the Whisper White grosgrain ribbon which was dyed with So Saffron ink.

The small flowers on the vine that are on the side of the box were stamped using Regal Rose and Old Olive markers.  The stamp is from Tiny Tags.

Half pearls from the Pretties kit were adhered to the center of the flowers.

The small tags were stamped with stamps from Tiny Tags on Very Vanilla CS then punched using the Medium Jewelry Tag punch.

Bunny card

Today I wanted to share this cute bunny card I created.  I CASED it from  Sandi MacIver’s blog.   She’s a very talented designer.  Go over to her blog and check out her other projects.  I created the background and bunny foot pads on My Digital Studio.  I love this software!  I am going to make several of these cards to mail.  Won’t the recipients get a kick when they get a bunny out of the envelope!

click for larger image

I sponged the bunny head and feet with Pretty in Pink classic ink #101301.

The cute little nose is the small heart punch (117193) found in the mini Occasions catalog.

Inside of ears are the small oval punch #107304.

The feet are made from the SU Wide Oval punch, #112082.  You really need this punch because it fits so many of SU’s sentiments also.

The bottom pad is the 1 inch circle punch, #109046 and the little toes are just the regular everyday hole punch.

I got the “Happy Easter” on each foot by using the text tool and changed the text color to Real Red.  This was all done in My Digital Studio #118108.  Then printed it out on Pretty in Pink background.  I left enough room between each word so I could punch each out with my 1″ circle punch.

The whiskers are a scrap of Whisper White run through the cutter, slicing 3 skinny pieces.  Tape these to the back of the nose, fanned them out a bit, then added a dimensional.

The eyes are black brads, #109109 with Pretty in Pink circles from a regular hole punch.

Project info:

The templates for this project appear on two entries on Sandi’s blog so for simplicity I have consolidated them here.

Click here for bunny head template.  Sandi’s tip:  When you print out the bunny head, the measurements should be;  3 inches across from the cheek to cheek, and from her chin to the V in her ears, 4 inches.

Click here for egg templates.  Sandi’s tip:  When you print off the egg, the large one on the left should be 7 1/4 inches long.  That measurements matches the bunny head.  Of course, if you want it smaller, than reduce both templates by the same amount.

Stamps:  none, My Digital Studio used for “Happy Easter” sentiment

Paper:  Whisper White cardstock, Pretty in Pink and print #3 from Sunny Day backgrounds printed from My Digital Studio.

Ink:  Pretty in Pink Classic ink used on 1/4″ white grosgrain ribbon and to sponge the bunny head and feet

Accessories: SU paper punches:  1″ circle, Wide Oval, Small Oval, Small Heart, regular hole punch, SU black brads, SU white 1/4″ ribbon inked with Pretty in Pink

Techniques:  Digital and Paper crafting
