A Toile Christmas Cardinal

This week’s challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments is a color challenge of Coastal Cabana, Real Red and Shaded Spruce.  When I first saw these colors I immediately thought Christmas and took the opportunity to finally use my new Toile Christmas Bundle.  I had to get this bundle because of the cardinal stamp and die.  I love cardinals and actually see them quite often in my backyard.  They are beautiful birds with their bight red feathers.

I knew I wanted to use the Woodland Embossing folder for the background to my card.  I inked up the folder with Coastal Cabana and embossed a Very Vanilla card stock layer and layered over a Real Red and Very Vanilla Christmas Toile DSP.  I stamped the cardinal and branch with black Momento ink then colored it with Real Red and Shaded Spruce dark and light blender pens.  I stamped the greeting with Versa mark then heat embossed with Silver embossing powder.  I then die cut the cardinal, branch and greeting with the dies then adhered using glue dots.  I also used retired 3/8″ Real Red mixed satin ribbon.

Fall is a Colorful Season

Although the first day of fall was September 23, it’s still summer in San Antonio, Texas.  I have my fall wreath on my door and my mantle decorated with leaves and pumpkins in anticipation for a cool reprieve of say 75 degrees so we can say it’s fall.  Fall in some states can be quite beautiful with trees in different colors of yellow, orange and red.  Here we will see some color changes in trees.  Until then the leaves on the card I created today will have to do and is inspired by the Hand Stamped Sentiments color challenge of Pretty Peacock, Mint Macaron, Terracotta Tile and Grapefruit Grove.  When I saw these colors I immediately thought of fall leaves.

I used the Colorful Seasons stamp set and Seasonal Layers dies to create my card.  This card came together very quickly with stamping the leaves and die cutting leaves out of gold foil as accents.  The sentiment is also from the set and heat embossed with gold embossing powder.  The leaves layer is adhered to a Pretty Peacock layer on a Thick White Card stock.  I also used Clear Faceted gems and 3/8″ linen ribbon from the Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo pack to embellish.

Happy Tails Wag On

I love dogs and I love the Stampin’ Up! Happy Tails stamp set.  Inspiration for my card comes from the Color Challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments of Pretty Peacock, Cherry Cobbler and Soft Suede.

Before I embossed the Soft Suede with the  Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder I inked the folder with Soft Suede ink.  I stamped the dogs with Soft Suede on Whisper White and stamped collars with Cherry Cobbler and Pretty Peacock then die cut the dogs with the Dog Builder Punch. I die cut the heart from Cherry Cobbler then colored with clear Wink of Stella for sparkle. I used the Banner Triple punch on a 1.5″ strip of Pretty Peacock.  The sentiment is stamped with Versamark then heat embossed with White embossing powder.  I colored basic rhinestones with Cherry Cobbler markers then used linen thread to embellish the banner.

It’s a Piece of Cake Wedding Card

I hadn’t had an opportunity to use the Piece of Cake stamp set and Cake Builder punch and was inspired by the color challenge of Petal Pink, Mint Macaron and Calypso Coral at Hand Stamped Sentiments to create a wedding card.  This summer I’ll be going to my nephew’s wedding and want to be ahead and get my card made.  I like to have different types of cards handy so I made a couple of wedding cards with this color combo.

I used Whisper White as my card base then used Shimmery White for the second layer.  It’s hard to see in the photo how pretty this paper shimmers.  I used the Bokeh dots stamps from the stamp set Beauty Abounds to stamp the dots.  The cake is stamped with Momento black then colored with Stampin’ Write markers.  The cake plate is die cut from Silver Glimmer paper.  The Calypso Coral two hearts were die cut using the retired Owl Builder punch.  I colored the hearts with Clear Wink of Stella.  It’s hard to see but I used small pearls on the flowers.  The greeting is from the Piece of Cake set.  The ribbon is from the new annual catalog, Petal Pink 5/8″ (1.6 Cm) Organdy Striped Ribbon.  This ribbon is so pretty.  The bottom of the layer is die cut using the edge die from Magnolia Memory Dies.  I love how it finished the bottom of the layer.   I’ll be using this edge on many of my cards.  To highlight the edge I backed it with DSP from the Magnolia Lane set.

Let Your Dreams Soar Above the Clouds

This card is a sneak peek of one of the new Stampin’ Up bundle Above the Clouds photopolymer stamp set and punch.  This bundle is very versatile and perfect for this time of year, graduation.  My card is also inspired by the color challenge of Coastal Cabana, Gorgeous Grape and Melon Mambo at Hand Stamped Sentiments.

I stamped the clouds with Versamark on  Coastal Cabana then embossed with white embossing powder.  The hot air balloons I stamped with Gorgeous Grape and Melon Mambo then used a blender pen with and ink pads to color.  I then die cut with the Hot Air Balloon punch.  The birds and sentiment I stamped with black Momento ink.  The sentiment I die cut with 1-3/4″ circle punch and the white outer circle with the 2″ circle punch.  Then used white bakers twine and Basic Rhinestones to embellish.

Celebrate with a Fabulous Flamingo

Flamingos are everywhere!   They’re on pillows, tees, cups, cards and so much more.  I recently purchased the Fabulous Flamingo stamp set and couldn’t wait to use it with the Tropical Chic.  The color challenge of Call me Clover, Flirty Flamingo and Lovely Lipstick at Hand Stamped Sentiments also inspired my birthday flamingo card.

The Call me Clover base I stamped with the leaf stamp from the Fabulous Flamingo stamp set.  The flamingo I stamped with Flirty Flamingo and black Momento ink then fussy cut with paper snips.  The foliage and flowers were stamped from the Tropical Chic stamp set and die cut using the Tropical Thinlit dies.

To add sparkle I used the Wink of Stella on the flowers and the flamingo.  I also used a rhinestone for the eye of the flamingo.  The ribbons are 1/8″ Grosgrain Lovely Lipstick  and 5/8″ Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon.  The sentiment is from the Thoughtful Banners set.  The faceted button is retired.  Making this card was fun!
