Tiny Teacups

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments we have a color splash challenge.  The colors are Pear Pizzazz, More Mustard and Cajun Craze.  A neutral of Whisper White or Very Vanilla could be used with this fresh combination.

I just received the Tiny Teacup stamp and it’s so cute.  So I thought these colors would be great to use with it.

Tiny Teacup item #118086, $5.95

I used my Big Shot with the Scallop Rectangle die to cut the card base then ran it again through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  The next layer is Cajun Craze and I rounded the corners.  I then used the Pear Pizzaz DSP, Hostess Level 1 In Colors pad to punch the square scallop.  I stamped the teacups in the different colors on Very Vanilla and masked the sentiment then punched them with the 1-1/4″ square.  I stamped the ‘hello’ sentiment by masking the teacup and stamping in the different colors and punching it also with the square punch.  I then ran them through the Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots folder and adhered to the square scallop then adhered them to the Cajun Craze layer.

I used 1/4″ Very Vanilla grosgrain ribbon and I also punched with the Scallop border punch the Pear Pizzaz DSP and adhered the border underneath the ribbon.  A very easy card!

Perfectly Packaged Bags, Tags Boxes and more

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiment’s we have a package theme challenge.  I’ve needed to say thank you to our dear neighbors and I thought to create a thank you project for this challenge would be perfect.  Inspired by Mary Fish and her pizza box tutorial project I decided to CASE her project and make these 3″ x 3″ thank you cards perfect to put inside this pizza box.  Mary always has clean, simple and stunning projects.  Hop on over to her blog and take a look at her wonderful projects.

For my project I decided to use the Day of Gratitude stamp set and Cajun Craze ink and card stock.  I did not like this color when it first was introduced but now I absolutely love it for all my fall projects.  It’s perfect!

Falling Leaves keep falling

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments we have sketch challenge to create either a fall or Halloween project.  The sketches are from the October SUCCESS magazine for Stampin’ Up! demonstrators.  I’ve been wanting to use the leaf image from the Lovely as a Tree stamp set.  It’s perfect for a fall card and using the Stampin’ Up! water color pencils with the Aqua Painter blends the colors so easily.  I would love to see your creation so hop on over to HHS and post your creation.

I used More Mustard card stock as my card base and used my Big Shot to texture it with the Square Lattice embossing folder.  I stamped the leaf image on water color paper, used water color pencils to color the image.  I sponged the edges with More Mustard classic ink then adhered to a Chocolate Chip layer.  The Old Olive DSP is from the Welcome Neighbor DSP pad from Sale-a-bration.  The circles were punched with Two-step owl punch and I used antique brass brads in the centers.  The ribbon was fluted by pulling on one of the fibers then adhered with mini dots.  The smallest layer is Chocolate Chip CS.

See the birdie…

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments there is a new color splash challenge.  The colors are fresh and crisp – Real Red, Pear Pizzaz, Pacific Point and Early Espresso with either Whisper White or Very Vanilla.  For my card I was inspired by Ashley C. Newell’s Thinking of You card featured in the book ‘ A Card a Day’.  I created my own printed paper by stamping the flourish from the Baroque Motifs on the Pear Pizzaz and on the Whisper White.  I then punched the Pearl Pizzaz with the 1/3/4″ circle punch and I punched the Whisper White wing with the Two-Step Bird punch. The bird image is also punched with the Two-Step Bird punch from the Early Espresso.  I wanted the bird image to be subtle so I used the Early Espresso then layered the circles and white branch behind it so you could just see the silhouette of the bird.  I cut the white branch free hand with paper snips.

Fall is in the air…

Well it looks like fall is definitely here!  Today when I went out this morning to walk my dog there was a slight chill and it felt so nice because the sun was just beginning to peek out.  All this inspired me to create this week’s Hand Stamped Sentiment’s Baby Wipe Technique Challenge card with the Autumn Splendor and Day of Gratitude stamp sets.  This technique is perfect for capturing the different leaf colors.  I used Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip and Old Olive re-inkers on my baby wipe.  I then used the baby wipe ink pad to stamp the Autumn Splendor leaf images and Punch Potpourri bird image on Very Vanilla card stock.

I used the Scallop Trim corner and border punches on the Very Vanilla layers.  I ran the smaller Very Vanilla layer through my Big Shot with the Square Lattice embossing folder.   Both Very Vanilla layers were sponged with Pumpkin Pie.

The Chocolate Chip layer is distressed with scissors.

I implemented the tone on tone technique and stamped the medallion image from the Day of Gratitude stamp set with Old Olive ink on the Old Olive layer.  I stamped the sentiment with Versamark and Chocolate Chip ink then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  As a final touch I added a half pearl for the eye of the bird and to the corner of the Old Olive layer.

I enjoyed this technique and encourage you to try it.  It’s very easy and results are beautiful.  You can go here to SCS to see a written and video tutorial for this technique.  Once you’ve created your baby wipe technique project please post it to the Hand Stamped Sentiments site.

Wicked Halloween

I just received  the Halloween stamp set Wicked Cool and I had to use it for the shaving cream technique challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments.  The tutorial for this technique can be found on SplitcoastStampers.   I had never tried this technique before because I thought it would be complicated but it’s not.  It was easy peasy and so much fun!  This is now one of my favorite techniques.  I used Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive and Pumpkin Pie ink to create the swirls in the shaving cream.  Each corner was stamped with the spider web and heat embossed with black embossing powder.

I stamped the hat and sentiment on Pumpkin Pie and embossed with clear embossing powder.  The shoes were stamped with Basic Black ink on Whisper White and sponged with Rich Razzleberry.  The bats were stamped on the cape with Versamark and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  The template for the cape is below with card recipe.   I used taffeta Pumpkin Pie ribbon and black rhinestones on the cape.

I’ve also submitted this card to PPA60 Halloween Inspiration challenge.  Stop by and take the challenge.

It’s in the bag

For this week at Hand Stamped Sentiments – Anything but a Card challenge I decided to recreate a purse I saw online.  The purse I saw on Purse Boutique is so cute!  So I thought this purse out of paper would be perfect for a small gift or gift card.  I cut the purse out of Basic Black card stock then ran it through my Big Shot with the Weave Texture plate.  I made the handles out  of braided grosgrain and added the spiral flower to the front.  Easy!  Here’s my inspiration and below it my creation.  I’ll post the template information in the next few days.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Sketch Challenge #25

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments – a sketch challenge.  Come play and post your interpretation of this sketch featured in the July issue of Success Magazine.  This magazine is put out every month exclusively for SU demonstrators to help us be better demos and to feature fabulous projects.  This is just one of the benefits of being a SU demo.

Sketch ChallengeI’ve been having a lot of fun with my Artistic Etchings, Chic Boutique and All a Flutter stamps.  Lately I have also been using vellum.  This paper is great because it adds a touch of elegance to any project.  I stamped with craft white and embossed in clear the butterflies on vellum and I also took a strip and ran it through the Big Shot with my Polka Dots folder.  I love that looks like lace.  The sentiment from Artistic Etchings and scroll frame are stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with black.  The black card base is smooched with silver.  Click to enlarge the photo so you can see the shimmery silver on black.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge 23 – Color Splash

This week over at Hand Stamped Sentiments we have a color splash challenge – Whisper White, Rose Red, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip and Crumb Cake.  Some of the designers this week must have had Paris in mind because we reached for the Artistic Etchings and Chic Boutique stamp sets.  I used the Chic Boutique stamp set because I recently purchased it and I had not had a chance to use yet and Paris is a place I’d love to visit.  I had a lot of fun creating this card.

BlOG CANDY WINNER:  The winner for last week’s challenge selected by RANDOM.ORG is #6 Christiana of Christy Gets Crafty who wrote “How lovely and inventive! You did a great job with this card! I’ve never seen anything like it.”  Congratulations to Christiana and thank you all for your comments.  I also hope to see you participate in this week’s color challenge.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Sketch Challenge #20

This week’s challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments is a sketch challenge so I used the opportunity to finally use the stamp set Pedaling Past and to also participate in Pals Paper Arts color challenge.  The sketch comes from the June issue of Success magazine for demonstrators.  The color challenge at PPA is Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry and Soft Suede.

PPA 46 Color Challenge - Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Soft SuedeI love this stamp set, Pedaling Past because it looks vintage.  Therefore I wanted my card to look old and distressed so I used the distressing tool on the cutter kit for the edges of  all layers on my card.  I also used My Digital Studio to print out circles with the cog punch.  The cogs and circles are one layer but shadowing on the cogs gives them dimension.  I stamped the bicycle image with black Stazon then watercolored using my ink pads .  I also used the border image and the sentiment from the set and used the Curly Label punch for the sentiment.  All edges were sponged with Soft Suede.  Here’s my hybrid card.
