All dressed up and somewhere to go

I’ve been having lots of fun with the All Dressed up Bundle from the new spring mini catalog.  I was so inspired by the color challenge over at PPA.  The colors are Basic Black, Melon Mambo and Basic Gray.  My card is an easel card die cut with the Floral Frames Framelits.  For added dimension I embossed the card’s background with the Fancy Fan Embossing folder.  I also used as a layer a paper doily which is also from the new spring mini catalog.  The dress is die cut with the Dress Up Framelits from the silver glimmer paper which I sponged with Melon Mambo ink.  I embellished with basic rhinestones and ribbon.  To help the sentiment pop it’s stamped in Whisper White then heat embossed with Iridescent powder.  To keep the easel card open I used one Large 8mm Basic rhinestone also featured in the new spring mini.

Another Blossom Petals Punch Flower Card

I love that the Blossom Petal Builder card makes so many types of flower.  Lately I’ve been stuck on making flowers with the larger and smaller petals.  I punched 16 of the larger petals and 8 of the smaller ones.  I then punched a 1-3/8″ circle and 1-1/4″ circle from an adhesive sheet to make two stickers.  Punch another 1″ circle from the adhesive sheet.

Use 8 of the larger on the 1-3/8″ circle, space them evenly.  Adhere the other large 8 petals on the 1-1/4″ circle, space them evenly.  Adhere the smaller 8 petals on the 1″ circle.  Use dimensionals to adhere the petal layers.  The larger petal circle is the base, then the 1-1/4″ petal circle followed by the 1″ small petal circle for the center.  I then punched 3 of the larger flowers from the Boho Punch and adhered the 3 flowers with mini glue dots then embellished with pearls.  The sentiment is cut using the Framelit dies and coordinating stamp set, Apothecary Art.

Elementary Elegance Birthday Card

I have quite a few friends with birthdays this month and one of the cards I made was inspired by PPA’s color challenge of Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy and Very Vanilla.  Beautiful colors!  For the Birthday stamped image here’s a sneak peak of the Elementary Elegance stamp set in the Sale-a-bration catalog.  Sale-a-bration begins later this month on January 24 through March 31.  During this event you earn free products from the catalog with every $50 purchase.  How cool is that!

The Birthday frame is heat embossed with pewter embossing powder.  The sentiment is stamped in Not Quite Navy and clear embossed.  I used the Elegant Lines embossing folder for the background and butterflies die cut with the Beautiful Wings Embosslits.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Sketch Challenge #20

This week’s challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments is a sketch challenge so I used the opportunity to finally use the stamp set Pedaling Past and to also participate in Pals Paper Arts color challenge.  The sketch comes from the June issue of Success magazine for demonstrators.  The color challenge at PPA is Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry and Soft Suede.

PPA 46 Color Challenge - Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Soft SuedeI love this stamp set, Pedaling Past because it looks vintage.  Therefore I wanted my card to look old and distressed so I used the distressing tool on the cutter kit for the edges of  all layers on my card.  I also used My Digital Studio to print out circles with the cog punch.  The cogs and circles are one layer but shadowing on the cogs gives them dimension.  I stamped the bicycle image with black Stazon then watercolored using my ink pads .  I also used the border image and the sentiment from the set and used the Curly Label punch for the sentiment.  All edges were sponged with Soft Suede.  Here’s my hybrid card.

In the Pink – PPA14 pink challenge

The talented divas at Pals Paper Arts came up with a pink challenge for October, breast cancer awareness month.  I’m not a pink person but earlier in the month I saw a photo in a fashion magazine and the fabric was interesting and it was pink.  When I received the challenge I thought it would be perfect.  I replicated the fabric for my card using the faux suede paper technique from Splitcoast Stampers.  The card turned out to be quite different from my usual style but I like it.  I had a dear high school friend pass away from this disease when she was only 33 leaving behind a husband and three small children.   This card is meant to be given to all the women fighting cancer and to know they are being included in our prayers and well wishes for recovery.
