Memorial Day Thank You Card

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments we remember and are grateful to our service men and women who have given their lives for our nation’s service.  Join the challenge and create a project for Memorial Day.

I wanted to create a bold card with a gold star so I made this 3D star to put on the front of my card and my sentiment is simply ‘grateful’.  I’m thankful to our military fallen heroes.  So this Memorial Day while you’re with your family remember those that are not with us.

Happy Birthday Cake Slice Box

Yesterday was my hubby’s birthday and I made him a cake slice box.  I put photos of  me and our fur babies inside the box wishing him a happy birthday.  The challenge was in trying to decorate the box in a masculine way.  I was inspired by The Paper Players Color Challenge – Cherry Cobbler, Not Quite Navy and Early Espresso.  These colors are so rich together and masculine.  I am also submitting my cake slice to Piece ‘O Cake Paper Craft Planet 3D challenge.

I made my cake box from Early Espresso  card stock then covered with DSP printed from My Digital Studio – Cherry Cobbler polka dot and Not Quite Navy Villa DSP.   I trimmed a 1-1/4″ strip of Early Espresso with the Eyelet Border punch and adhered to the lid.  I also used the retired Take a Spin stamp set , Striped Early Espresso ribbon and Birthday Banner to decorate the top.  I couldn’t resist and added clear rhinestones to the banner and the sides of the box.  I also used an Antique brad for the back.

I also used My Digital Studio to print the photos and then used the 2-3/8 inch circle punch.  I attached the photos with mini glue dots to 1/4″ Very Vanilla grosgrain ribbon.  I adhered each end with mini glue dots.

No calorie birthday cake

The slice of cake I made for you today has no calories.  It’s a fun box you can decorate as a party favor or to fill with goodies or a gift card.  The box is made from a die I’ve had for a while and it was time to use it.  One of the great things about the Big Shot is you can use different kinds of dies from different manufacturers.  I die cut the cake slice then embossed with the Finial Press Folder.  I decorated the slice with doilies punched from the new Doily Triple Layer Punch, pearls and ribbon.  I served up my cake slice on a circle scallop plate I embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots folder.  The candle is made with Very Vanilla card stock then decorated with a strip of Melon Mambo.  I freehand the flame using Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight card stock.  Making this cake slice was a lot of fun.

If you’d like to make a cake slice box but don’t have a die click here for a template.

Floral Fest Birdhouse

I recently received the Flower Fest stamp set and I was so excited to get creative with it.  I was looking for inspiration for color and PPA had one of my favorite color combos – Poppy Parade, Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait.  These colors together are great together for summer projects.  I put together this project for Hand Stamped Sentiments Anything Goes Challenge.  The box and Cardinal are from a template I created then stamped the floral and leaf images with Versamark and matching classic ink as the card stock and heat embossed with iridescent powder for that shimmery look.  I also added clear rhinestones for additional bling.    Hop on over to HSS get inspired and upload your project.

Beyond the Garden Scrapbook Page

As promised here’s a hybrid 8″ x 8″ scrapbook page I created on My Digital Studio with the Beyond the Garden Digital DSP and the Digital Fabulous Florets Stamp Set.  I also had to include the scooter or Vespa from the On The Grow rubber Stamp Set and the sentiment.  As yesterday I gave my scooter a custom paint job.  I paper pieced it with the Beyond the Garden Digital DSP pattern #6.  I love this digi DSP it’s so bright and perfect for your summer projects.

Paris on a Scooter

Doesn’t the scooter in On the Grow stamp set remind you of touring Paris?  I love this stamp set!  This set is available in the new Stampin’ Up! Summer Mini and for some inspiration I used the sketch from Mojo Monday.  I wanted to create a card that was bright and full of flowers so I used the digital Beyond the Garden DSP.  I printed four patterns on an 8.5″ x11″ paper and then used them on my card to create a hybrid project.  I stamped the scooter image on the yellow flowers dsp and gave my scooter a custom paint job then colored the rest of it with watercolor pencils and blender pen.  Creating this card was a lot of fun.  See my blog tomorrow to see the scrap page I created with this set.

A Vintage Rose for my Friends

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments we have a Color Splash Challenge.  Use the colors of Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery and Bashful Blue to create a card or paper project.  A few weeks ago I received the stamp set Timeless Treasures from my dear friend Amy.  I’d been dying to use it so I created this card.  Although we met about two years ago through Stampin’ Up! I feel we’ve been friends for a long time.  The same goes for my other stamping friends.  I’ve made such wonderful friendships through Stampin’ Up!  So this card is dedicated to all of my stamping friends.  I am so fortunate to have them in my life.

Strength & Hope Butterfly Card – Let’s Fight Breast Cancer!

This past weekend I held a workshop and my make-and-take was a card I saw in the May issue of SUCCESS.  SUCCESS is a magazine for Stampin’ Up! demonstrators and is a valuable tool to helping us with our business.   I used the colors and punches I own to create the card.  My customers loved making it.  Plus it showcased the stamp set so well.  With each purchase of this stamp set Stampin’ Up! will donate $2 to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.  BCRF is dedicated to preventing breast cancer and finding a cure in our lifetime by funding clinical and translational research worldwide.

Summer Mini Sneek Peak

I’m so excited about the new 2011 summer mini.  There are so many new items.  Two of the newest punches are the Triple Layer Punches.  Create three coordinated punch images with just one punch.  The images look beautiful layered together or separately.  There is also a new textured embossing folder – Flower Garden.  I used both these new products in my card below.  I hope you can see I used Dazzling Diamonds on the textured image.  The flower image is gorgeous!  I also used my new Doily Triple Layer Punch to create a border along the side of the card.  I punched one image in white and another in black.  The other new item I used is the frame for the sentiment from the Four Frames set.  This set is available through the end of the month and will not be available until July with the launching of the new catalog.

The sketch from The Paper Players inspired me to create my card.

Here’s my card.

A Framed Rose for Mom

I love making paper roses from the Fancy Flower punch.  I also had a Sizzix frame die I had not used and decided to make a card for Mother’s Day.  I also used the Sizzix Square Scallop Frame die to create the card base and I layered a Pear Pizzazz DSP background to the front, added the Blushing Bride frame then embellished with small quilled roses and a large rose.  The Beautiful Wings butterflies also were added with pearls.  The sentiment is stamped with the Four Frames rose frame.  I used a blender pen and my Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzazz stamp pads to color the roses on the sentiment frame.   This set is available until the end of the month.  It’s a sneak peek from the new Stampin’ Up! Idea Book & Catalog for 2011-2012.  After April 30th you’ll have to wait until July to purchase.  Click here for more info.

This is one of the samples I’ll be showing at my workshop on Saturday.  If you live in San Antonio and would like to attend please email me.  I’ll be demonstrating how to make the large rose and quilled roses.  Another reminder, the Occasions mini catalog expires at the end of the month and we’ll have a new summer mini.  Visit me tomorrow for a sneak peak from the Summer mini catalog.
