H & G Pennant Birthday

H & G because, Hi!, the pennants are a sneak peek of a new stamp set in the NEW Stampin’ Up! CATALOG.  LOVE IT!!! Now you can stamp and punch pennants for any occasion with the Pennant Parade Stamp Set and Petite Pennants Builder Punch.   I can’t show you the stamp set or the punch.  But the stamp set has stamps for almost every occasion.  Love the Petite Pennants Builder Punch because now you can have perfect pennants.  Both of these items will be available to order on July 1st, 2011.  Bye!, because the Love Letter DSP is retiring at the end of the month.  I love this paper.  It was perfect for this card.  Whimsical yet elegant.  Just a reminder that on June 30th many items will retire.  Click HERE to see all the retired items.

A Fitting Thank you

This week’s challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments is paper piecing.  This is a fun technique that adds lot of pizzazz to your hand stamp cards, and it’s easy to do!

All you have to do is stamp your image on paper or cardstock, cut it out and add it to your project.  You can keep it simple,  or use a more detailed stamp, stamp it on different colors and/or patterns of paper and layer your heart out!

For my project I used the Chic Boutique stamp set and the Love Letter DSP to paper piece the dress forms.  I used my Stamp-A-Ma–Jig to position the design on my form then stamped it with Versamark, Classic Black ink then heat embossed it Iridescent Ice Stampin‘ Emboss Powder.  I love this powder because it adds just the right sparkle.  I cut out the dress form images.  I stamped three dress forms on a Very Vanilla Top Note Layer that has been altered to look like a square.  I trimmed the Very Vanilla Top Note square layer by cutting along the perfed edge.  It’ very easy to make this shape.  Click here for  tutorial on creating this fun shape and a circle.  I die cut another shape in Riding Hood Red to layer behind the Very Vanilla.  So easy!  See below for card recipe.

A Parisian Birthday

I’ve been wanting to use the Love Letter DSP with the Artistic Etchings Stamp Set.  The patterns are beautiful and as usual I always have a problem deciding which side to use.  I made this box with three cards and stamped the envelopes to match for a friend’s birthday.  This project came together very easy.  I first made the box with the chip board that comes with the DSP. You can also use Stampin’ Up!’s cardstock but if you want to use DSP you need to adhere it to a thicker stock therefore I used the chip board.   SCS has a great tutorial on how to make this box.

I first cut the chip board to size then adhered a slightly larger piece of  DSP over the chip board and trimmed to the size of the chip board.  I then scored as instructed and assembled the box as instructed on the SCS A2 box tutorial.

I decorated the top of the box with a strip of the Love Letter DSP red medallion DSP.  I was dying to use the frame for the Notably Ornate stamp set which I stamped on a Very Vanilla layer with Basic Black ink then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  I rounded the corners then sponged with Basic Black and Riding Hood Red.  I stamped the crown on Very Vanilla and used my paper snips to cut out then sponged with Riding Hood Red.  The Eiffel Tower is stamped with Basic Black then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Paper snips and a hobby blade were used to cut the Eiffel tower.  The crown and the tower are adhered with Dimensionals and embellished the frame with the Basic Pearls.  I love the Basic Pearls.  They’re perfect for embellishing any card because they come in three sizes.  The knotted ribbon is adhered with a mini glue dot.  I punched a border out of a strip of DSP and adhered to the back of the frame layer then adhered the completed layer to the box.

I created the three cards with different DSP from the Love Letter group and used the Artistic Etchings stamp set.  The fan fold instructions can be found on SCS.
