Nature Walk Gift Set

I recently discovered that I had purchased the Botanical Gazette DSP and had not used it so I created this box and cards gift set based on Nancy Gabbert’s project featured in the January Success magazine.  Since the DSP and stamp set will retire at the end of the month I created this project to feature at my next workshop this month as a final push for my customers to buy this beautiful paper and stamp set.  If you’re a SU demonstrator making the box at your next workshop would be a great demo along with showing the completed cards.  I have created the template, instructions for making the box, card photos and recipes with dimensions and instructions for making the cards.  This is not a step-by-step tutorial.  You can purchase these instructions for $2.99.  I hope this inspires you to have ONE more workshop this month for a final push on the occasions mini products and to give a sneak peek of the summer or if you’re a hobby stamper I hope this set inspires you to purchase the paper and stamp set.  The stamp set is one I’ll never part with.  It’s a keeper.

Easter Favors to dress up your party

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments we have an Easter theme challenge. Create any Easter project – cards, 3D projects, party favors, baskets, gift sets…you get the idea. There are so many projects you can create to dress up this holiday.

For this challenge I created a small bunny basket perfect for Easter candy. I printed the chocolate bunny, Spring Vintage DSP and sentiment from My Digital Studio. I dressed him up with ivory grosgrain ribbon and adhered him to the front of the box. I punched the sentiment with the oval punch and layered it over a Regal Rose Scallop oval. I modified this box template by cutting off the back and made a handle from Regal Rose CS with the Dotted Scallop Ribbon border punch.

My other project is the carrot box made with Stampin’ Up’s Petal Cone die.  Love this die.  I textured the Pumpkin Pie CS with Texture Plates Kit #4.  The carrot top was created by cutting two Old Olive banners in half length-wise and curling them around a paper piercing tool.  I adhered them with mini glue dots to the inside of the flaps so the flaps could still be folded under each other to close the box.  The bunny was stamped and clear embossed then punched with 1-3/8 circle punch then layers on Peach Parfait DSP from the Hostess level 1 paper pack.  For the larger scallop I used Old Olive Polka dot DSP from Jolly Holiday.

I’m in the PINK!

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments we have a fun color splash challenge with PINK!  Create any project with all the shades of pink.

Pinkalicious challenge 62-001

Since pink is such a feminine color I decided to create a teapot shaped card and candle for mother’s day.  The template for the teapot can be found here.   I enjoyed creating this project with the help of My Digital Studio.  I printed the DSP from the Spring Vintage DSP download.  To embellish the teapot I used the Blossom Petal punch and coordinating stamp set.  The butterflies were die cut from the Beautiful Wings Embosslits.  Take the challenge and show us your pink-a-licious projects.

Inspired by Nature

My card this week is inspired by Hand Stamped Sentiments inspirational challenge.  The photo below has so many wonderful images.  My project for this week is dedicated to Minnie Cieslak , Anne Marie Hile and Amy Lazzell.  These wonderful SU demos took time out of their day this past Saturday to come to my workshop.  They were great support in helping my guests with their make ‘n takes and providing lots of tips and ideas.  It was a fun and inspirational afternoon.  I’m so lucky to have them as friends and also as fellow design team members.  So hop on over to HHS and be inspired and also take a look at the wonderful inspiration provided by the design team.

I created this hybrid card and round box with My Digital Studio.  I used the digital Botanical Gazette DSP and the digital Nature Walk stamp set.  I love how easy it is to create beautiful cards.   I also love that almost every Tuesday there are new downloads.  Tuesdays now have become a favorite day.

Lucky Four Leaf Clover

This week I’m going for the green!  Hand Stamped Sentiments has a fun challenge this week to create any project inspired by St. Patrick’s Day.

Hand Stamped Sentiments

My idea for this challenge was inspired by the flourish in the Always Elegant stamp set by Stampin’ Up!  I knew instantly I wanted to create a lucky four leaf clover jewelry pin gift set that featured this beautiful flourish.   Since I had not played with my Crystal Effects this was perfect for the pin I had in my mind.  I first stamped the flourish from the Always Elegant stamp set and heat embossed it with gold then punch four hearts with the small heart punch.  I punched a 1/2″ circle and adhered the hearts to the circle with a mini glue dot then adhered the stem to the back.  I covered the front of the clover pin with Crystal Effects then let dry overnight.   I embellished with pearls and adhered a 3/4 inch silver safety catch pin back with hot glue gun.

The box and tag for the pin were created with the Sizzix Matchbox Bigz XL die.  I first ran the CS through with this die then embossed the top of the box with the Elegant Lines embossing folder before putting it together.  I wrapped the box with Very Vanilla satin ribbon.  The green tag is stamped with gold ink with the oval from the Vintage labels then stamped the ‘FOR YOU’ also from this set and punched it out with the 3/4″ circle.  I adhered the circle to the tag with dimensionals then tied it to the ribbon with gold cording.

The card base was cut with the Sizzix Bigz Large Scallop Square die and then embossed with the Elegant Lines embossing folder.  I used the Scallop Circles #2 die for the second layer. I stamped it with the flourish from the Always Elegant stamp and heat embossed it with gold then used Champagne Glass Glitter on the edges of the scalloped circle.  I made another four leaf clover and adhered it to the flourish with a dimensional.  The sentiment is from the Hostess Level 1 Aftherthoughts stamp set punched out with the large oval punch then outlined with Champagne Glass Glitter. I then layered on a scallop oval and adhered with dimensionals.

Paris in the Spring

Do you ever get an idea for a project you can’t get out of your head and you have to create it?  Well this happened with an idea to make an Eiffel Tower shaped box using the image from the Artistic Etchings digital stamp set because then I can make it whatever size I like.  I finally decided to create the box for this week’s challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Splash Challenge.  The colors are Poppy Parade, Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzazz.  These colors together remind me of spring.

I created the front of the box on My Digital Studio.  I used the Blushing Bride polka dot background and enlarged the Eiffel Tower and colored it Pear Pizzaz.  I then created an outline template of the tower and cut it out.  I made the front and bottom of the box from chip board then adhered the Eiffel Tower image/DSP on the front and trimmed any uneven edges.  The bottom of the box is slightly smaller so the top can fit over the sides from the bottom.  The sides of the box are made from Very Vanilla CS.  I also finished the inside with Very Vanilla CS and grosgrain ribbon.  I plan on creating a tutorial for this box.  As soon as complete it I’ll post it.

For the card I stamped the tower in Versamark and Pear Pizzazz ink then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  The card also features Poppy Parade DSP from the In Color  Hostess Level One paper pack.  I embellished the box and the card with buttons created with the Sizzlit Buttons #5 die.  I also embellished with loads of pearls.  I hope these colors inspire you to create a project for spring.

Simple Valentine Cards

I created these simple Valentine cards for a class.  These were very easy for my guests and they loved them.  These two-layer cards showcased the Big Shot for the embossed backgrounds.  I love the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder and combines well with the Artistic Etchings stamp set.  I stamped the medallion in Riding Hood Red on Very Vanilla CS to make the background.  I then stamped the Eiffel Tower, glued the Red Glitter heart atop the tower and added a bit of Scallop Trim to the bottom and stamped ‘AMOUR’.  I also tore the edges of the Very Vanilla CS and sponged the edges in Riding Hood Red. For the finishing touch,  I adhered pearls and rhinestones to the corners.

For the “Just my Type” card   I used the Texture Plates Kit #4 which I had not used for awhile.  This set has a wonderful typed background which coordinates perfectly with the vintage typewriter image from Puns from the Past and the Newsprint DSP.  I punched the border of the Newsprint layer and sponged the edges in black.  I love the Tiny Tags stamp set and Medium Jewelry punch.  These little tags add so much to any card.  I adhered with the mini glue dots the tags underneath the knot of the ribbon.  I stamped the typewriter image on Very Vanilla CS then punched it out with the Decorative Label Punch.  I also punched another Decorative Label in black and framed the Typewriter image.  I added the Red glitter heart to the top of the typewriter image and the pearls to the corners.

One of my goals this year is to finish the inside of my cards as I did below.  It just looks so much neater and gives you another opportunity to use more images from a stamp set.

Isn’t it Romantic

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments there’s a big announcement.  We’ve added five more designers to our Design Team.  We’re so excited!  Please hop on over and welcome them by leaving a comment.  Also we have a wonderful color challenge with the romantic colors of red, black and ivory or white.  You can use any shade of red – Real Red, Cherry Cobbler, Riding Hood Red or any other shade of red you prefer combine it with Black Whisper White or Very Vanilla.

I’ve been wanting to make different versions of corset cards and I CASED this corset shape card from Ink Stained Roni.  Hop over to her blog to get the template and other ideas.  The card base is Very Vanilla and I covered the front of the card with the music notes background from the Newsprint DSP and I sponged the edges with Riding Hood Red.  I’m down to a couple of sheets and I must buy more Newsprint DSP.  I’ve also been playing with the Red Glitter paper and I think it’s fabulous.  It’s perfect for adding that touch of bling.  I punched the hearts with the Small Heart punch and I also used my favorite embellishments – Victoria Crochet Trim and Vintage brads.

The candle is stamped with the medallion and flourish from the Artistic Etching stamp set.  I also added a red glitter heart and crochet trim.  Stamping on candles is very easy and there is a step-by-step tutorial on  SCS.  I hope you’re inspired by this week’s color challenge and show us your romantic side on HSS.

I also love the challenges over at PPA so I submitted my project.   There are so many talented crafters that participate.  Check them out.

Spring Vintage Hearts

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments we have a hearts theme challenge.  Hearts are a wonderful shape because they’re not just for Valentine’s day.  They fit right it for birthdays, anniversaries,  thinking of you, weddings and thank you projects.  I knew I wanted to create a project with spring colors and with a shabby chic look.  I’ve recently downloaded the Spring Vintage DSP for My Digital Studio and I thought perfect! Next I selected the perfect coordinating stamp sets, Baby Blossoms and With all my Heart.  The box shape I selected is the Petal Cone.  The shape is perfect for my vintage shabby chic look I had in mind.  The Petal Cone die, Spring Vintage DSP and Baby Blossoms stamp set can be found in the new Occasion Mini.

To add to my spring shabby chic look I embellished with pearls, crochet trim and of course hearts.  The base of the card is Crumb Cake CS, the next layer is Rose Red CS.  The DSP is the Spring Vintage download printed on matte photo paper.  I created the sentiment layer on my card by stamping the frame from the Baby Blossoms stamp set then used paper snips to cut the frame.  I used the SU wide oval punch and then used a tag from the Matchbox die and stamped ‘friend’ from With all my Heart stamp set.  I also used the Eyelet border punch under the crochet ribbon and embellished with pearls.  I created the heart trim at the bottom of the card using the Small heart punch.  I aligned the side of the punch with the previous heart and aligned the bottom of the heart with the line I drew in pencil.  Draw it light so it can be erased once you finish.

The Petal Cone box is Very Vanilla CS and I then printed Spring Vintage DSP on matte paper then put the paper through my Big Shot with Petal Cone die so I could then cut two sides of the triangle.  I cut these out then adhered them to the sides of the Petal Cone.  The Scallop flower is made with the 2-3/8″ scallop circle punch and clear rhinestone brad.

This is my quick and fast method for making the scallop flower.  Punch 6 scallop circles, stack them all together, then pierce the center and use a brad to fasten.  Crunch and fold each layer.  Voilá you have a flower.  There are other methods where you fold each layer and spritz with water before fastening all the layers but I don’t have much patience and my quick method works for me.

I enjoyed making this gift set and I hope it inspires you to take the challenge and create your heart project.

Owl Love

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments we have a Punch Theme Challenge.  I was so excited about this challenge because one of my favorite punches is the Two-Step Owl punch.   So I decided to create my project around this punch.

I’ve been wanting to make an owl box to store 3″x3″ cards and I’ve succeeded.  The 3″ x 3″ cards and envelopes fit nicely into this box.  I’m finishing up the tutorial along with the dress tutorial.  I promise to post them by the end of the week.
