Congratulations to an Eagle Scout

This week’s sketch challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments inspired me to create this card for my best friend’s son.  He achieved the Eagle Scout rank in Boy Scouts.  I used Night of Navy, Whisper White and Red Glimmer paper.  I cut two 1″ strips of Night of Navy and Red Glimmer paper.  I downloaded the badge from the internet, printed it and cut it out.  Using the sketch made it so easy and fast.  This sketch would work for all kinds of cards and color combinations.

Happy Haunting Halloween Card

This week’s challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments is a color challenge with the colors of Blackberry Bliss, Pear Pizzazz and Black.  These colors were perfect for a Halloween card.  I used the ghost from the Fall Fest stamp set and greeting from the Ghoulish Greetings stamp set.  For texture I used the Woodgrain Embossing folder and embellished with rhinestones.

I adhered the Blackberry Bliss and Pear Pizzaazz layers then punched the circles through both layers.  I stamped the ghosts with Versamark on the black layer and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  The sentiment is also stamped in Versamrk and heat embossed with black embossing powder.  Super easy card to make!

Fine Feathers to say Hello

I recently received the Four Feathers bundle, Four Feathers Stamp set and Feathers Framelits.  I love this bundle!  I used it to create this card based on the sketch from Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge.

Stampin' Up! Fine Feathers Hello cardI stamped the feathers with Encore silver ink on Whisper White and Basic Black then die cut them with the Feather Framelits.  The feature paper is from the Back to Black Designer Series paper pack.  I embellished the card with 1/8″ silver and Whisper White Organza ribbon along with the Scallop Edge border punch and Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border punch and basic rhinestones.  The sentiment is stamped on Whisper White with Momento Black.

A Kinda Eclectic card

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments we’re having a color splash challenge with the colors of Hello Honey, Night of Navy and Marina Mist.  My card was inspired by one in the Stampn’Up! Idea 2014-2015 Idea Catalog on page 69.

The card base is Whisper White and I rounded one of the corners of the card by tracing a half circle on the corner then cutting the round with scissors.  I stamped the flourish with Hello Honey from the Flowering Flourishes stamp set then adhered a Tea Lace Paper Doily.  I stamped two flowers from the Beautiful Bunch stamp set.  The larger flower I stamped with Momento black ink and colored it with Night of Navy and Marina Mist markers.  The smaller flower is stamped with Marina Mist.  The sentiment and butterfly are stamped from the Kinda Eclectic stamp set.  I die cut the flowers with the Fun Flower and Petite Petals punch.  I used the Elegant Butterfly punch to die cut the butterfly.  The sentiment was die cut with the Apothecary Accents franelit.  The inside of the card is layered with a Hello Honey striped paper from the Lullaby DSP.

Tap, Tap. Tap, Hello Friend

This week’s challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments is a sketch challenge.  I used my new stamp set Tap, Tap, Tap to create this fun card!  I used the Dictionary background stamp set to create my own DSP.  The burlap ribbon and basic rhinestones are perfect embellishments.  I stamped the typewriter image on Whisper White and fussy cut it.  The sentiment “hello, my friend” is stamped on a separate piece of Whisper White and adhered to the typewriter with dimensional.  To add interest to the card I rounded opposite corners with the corner punch.hello friend typwriter card

A Joyful Christmas in August

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments we have a color challenge – Baked Brown Sugar, Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler,  These colors just say Christmas!  I created this card using the Joyful Christmas stamp set.

I stamped two poinsettia flowers on vellum and embossed with gold embossing powder then colored it from behind.  It’s such a pretty  look.  Like stained glass.  I cut out the larger flower then cut the center from the other one.  I used the same technique with the leaves and colored them with Garden Green.

Joyful Christmas poinsettia card

For embellishments I used basic rhinestones in the center of the flower and Baked Brown Sugar ribbon.  The sentiment is stamped with Cherry Cobbler and die cut with the  Apothecary Accents Framelits die.

Acrylic block Stamped Background Thank You Card

This week’s challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments is an inspiration challenge.  The image that inspired me most was the sky background.  I used the acrylic block stamped background technique to create the background for my card.  Click here for a tutorial on this technique.

I used ink colors Coastal Cabana, Marina Mist and Wisteria Wonder on water-color paper.  The flourishes are stamped in Night of Navy.  I like how the ink looks on the texture of the water-color paper.  For extra sparkle, I used Dazzling Details all over the background image and flourishes and added rhinestones colored with Coastal Cabana blendable markers.  The ribbon is Lost Lagoon.  It was just the right layer for my “thanks” sentiment.

Here are the inspiration images from Hand Stamped Sentiments.  I hope you join us for the challenge.

A Stampin’ Up! Congratulations to a Star Graduate

I’m so behind on sending out cards!  One card I needed to create was for my niece that graduated from Oregon State.  I wanted to use the new Star Framelits to create a card for her.  I used the Oregon State colors of black and orange.  The inside of the star is cut from glimmer paper and sponged with Pumpkin Pie.  I CASED this card from page 135 of the NEW Stampin’ Up! catalog.  To make this card I watched this video by Diane Dimich.

Now I all I have to do is mail it out tomorrow!

By the Tide inspired by Stampin’ Up!’s 2014-2015 Idea Catalog

My card this week is inspired by page 130 of the new catalog.  Although the stamp set ‘By the Tide’ is not new to the catalog there are many great ideas for projects throughout the catalog.  Every time I look through the catalog I see something new.  Every page is full of ideas on how to use different projects.  This card features watercolor  paper which gives your project an artistic feel.

I stamped the coral on the watercolor layer then went over some of the branches with an aqua pen.  The fish, seahorse and seashell were stamped then fussy cut.  I also stamped the edges of the watercolor paper with the dotted stamp from ‘Gorgeous Grunge’ with Baked Brown Sugar.  I used linen thread at the bottom and tied with white Baker’s twine I dyed with Pear Pizzazz.

To add sparkle I lightly added Dazzling Details to the card.  It’s difficult to see but you should be able see it when you magnify the card.
