Hand Stamped Sentiments Sketch Challenge #25

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments – a sketch challenge.  Come play and post your interpretation of this sketch featured in the July issue of Success Magazine.  This magazine is put out every month exclusively for SU demonstrators to help us be better demos and to feature fabulous projects.  This is just one of the benefits of being a SU demo.

Sketch ChallengeI’ve been having a lot of fun with my Artistic Etchings, Chic Boutique and All a Flutter stamps.  Lately I have also been using vellum.  This paper is great because it adds a touch of elegance to any project.  I stamped with craft white and embossed in clear the butterflies on vellum and I also took a strip and ran it through the Big Shot with my Polka Dots folder.  I love that looks like lace.  The sentiment from Artistic Etchings and scroll frame are stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with black.  The black card base is smooched with silver.  Click to enlarge the photo so you can see the shimmery silver on black.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Luau Theme Challenge #24

This week at Hand Stamped Sentiments we have a Luau Theme Challenge.  I had fun creating these projects with My Digital Studio software.  I created a card and favor box using the digital stamps Petal Pizzazz included with initial purchase of MDS.  I used this stamp set because the flowers were big and bold.  Just perfect for this theme.  I printed a layer with the images and sentiment then adhered it to Old Olive card stock and added ribbon.  So easy!  The next project I also created with My Digital Studio but this time I had some hibiscus clipart I wanted to use.  I was able to import the images into My Digital Studio but first I had convert the .jpg images to  .png files then put them into the embellishments folder in MDS so I could access them.  In MDS I created a background with both the Petal Pizzazz and hibiscus images to add behind the flower images and to also make the favor boxes.  The templates for these boxes can be purchased for $1.95.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge 23 – Color Splash

This week over at Hand Stamped Sentiments we have a color splash challenge – Whisper White, Rose Red, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip and Crumb Cake.  Some of the designers this week must have had Paris in mind because we reached for the Artistic Etchings and Chic Boutique stamp sets.  I used the Chic Boutique stamp set because I recently purchased it and I had not had a chance to use yet and Paris is a place I’d love to visit.  I had a lot of fun creating this card.

BlOG CANDY WINNER:  The winner for last week’s challenge selected by RANDOM.ORG is #6 Christiana of Christy Gets Crafty who wrote “How lovely and inventive! You did a great job with this card! I’ve never seen anything like it.”  Congratulations to Christiana and thank you all for your comments.  I also hope to see you participate in this week’s color challenge.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Technique Challenge #22 and Giveaway!

This week’s challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments is a technique challenge –  fancy fold or shape card.  I’ve been wanting to create a watering can card and this was my opportunity.  The template is from Waltzingmouse Stamps.  I have included the template link below.  Also this week I am giving away the stamp set Of the Earth.  Leave me a comment and your name will be entered in the drawing.  To see what else you can win go to Hand Stamped Sentiments.

Now on to the project deets. To add dimension to the watering can I cut out an additional spout and sponged the edges of the can and sentiment oval with Soft Suede ink.  I stamped all the flower images on Very Vanilla card stock.  I used glue dots and SNAIL to adhere the flowers and the leaves.  I used the rock and roll method with Garden Green and Olive Green ink to add dimension to the leaves.  I had a lot of fun creating this card.

Summertime Splendor cards

Continuing with yesterday’s theme I also created these cards using the digital download Summertime Splendor.  These  beautiful backgrounds are perfect for any of your summer projects.  In my previous post I created beautiful party favor or gift boxes.  Today with the help of My Digital Studio and the Summertime Splendor digital backgrounds these are the cards I created.  Patty Bennett has a wonderful tutorial showing how to make card fronts in My Digital studio.  I made these four cards in about 45 minutes.  So easy!

Hand Stamped Sentiments – Anything but a card – Garden Party

Another sunny week and I’ve been a bit under the weather.  To cheer me up I thought I would play with My Digital Studio and the Summertime Splendor designer series printed backgrounds.  Since this week’s challenge for Hand Stamped Sentiments is – Anything but a Card – I thought this would also be a perfect time to make some favor/gift boxes using the Summertime Splendor digital backgrounds with My Digital Studio.    I also used my Beautiful Wings Embosslits die for the butterflies and some ribbon.  If you want extra embellishments you can also add a border like I did on the yellow and black & white boxes.  The box templates are also from My Digital Studio and can be purchased for a $1.95.  Plus you also get two printed patterns.   These boxes are perfect for any summer party, shower, birthday or wedding.  Remember you can purchase the templates and use them without owning the My Digital Studio Software.  You can use any of the templates and images in any program where you can import images.  I really tried in the photos to show the vivid colors of summer but these are the best of all the photos I took.  Tomorrow I will post the cards I made using the Summertime Splendor DSP digital backgrounds.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Sketch Challenge #20

This week’s challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments is a sketch challenge so I used the opportunity to finally use the stamp set Pedaling Past and to also participate in Pals Paper Arts color challenge.  The sketch comes from the June issue of Success magazine for demonstrators.  The color challenge at PPA is Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry and Soft Suede.

PPA 46 Color Challenge - Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Soft SuedeI love this stamp set, Pedaling Past because it looks vintage.  Therefore I wanted my card to look old and distressed so I used the distressing tool on the cutter kit for the edges of  all layers on my card.  I also used My Digital Studio to print out circles with the cog punch.  The cogs and circles are one layer but shadowing on the cogs gives them dimension.  I stamped the bicycle image with black Stazon then watercolored using my ink pads .  I also used the border image and the sentiment from the set and used the Curly Label punch for the sentiment.  All edges were sponged with Soft Suede.  Here’s my hybrid card.

Another Graduation Gift Set

My niece in Oregon graduated last week and I needed to send a gift or card so I decided to make this adorable gift tote and matchbox dresser ensemble I saw on Laura Lin’s blog.  The instructions from Laura and my instructions for the matchbox dresser are here.  As Laura says they are addicting and I’m going to make more.  Since I am transitioning to the new Stampin’ Up! DSP, and I’m waiting for my order, I had to use non SU paper that I had in stock.  Sorry SU DSP and card stock fans.

I used the tags cut from the matchbox die to make little notes and I put one  in each of the drawers.  I decorated the notes with butterflies and rhinestones.  I used one tag for the top of the dresser and tied with the ribbon.

To give the card that extra touch I lined the outside flap of the envelope.

Mojo Monday #142 Contest

I ‘ve been meaning to play at Mojo Monday and I finally submitted.  It’s the first Monday of the month, so that means it’s CONTEST time!  The sketch for this week is so fun!  There are so many great entries.  Hop on over take a look and take the challenge.  Contest closes at 8PM MT on Sunday, June 13.

Mojo Monday week 42 sketchSince I had to make a thank you card I took the opportunity to play.  I have the All a Flutter stamp and smooch sprays I wanted to try out.

The card base is Basic Black and the the scalloped layer is More  Mustard CS, the Chocolate Chip layer is smooched with Log Cabin smooch.

I first smooched a piece of Whisper White CS with Silver and Log Cabin smooch. Whenever I smooch I use the handy Color Catcher to prevent spraying on my table and I use my heat tool to dry the spray on my project.   I then stamped the butterfly image with Black StazOn and heat embossed with clear embossing powder then colored the image with markers, Summer Sun, Really Rust, Close to Cocoa, then cut it out with paper snips.

I took a square piece of Whisper White and stamped with VersaMark the vines from Wings of Friendship on opposite corners then heat embossed with clear embossing powder then I sponged with More Mustard ink.  I did the direct pad to paper method for an intense color.

The small flowers are also from the Wings of Friendship set.  I smooched another piece of card just with the Silver smooch then stamped three flowers with Black StazOn then cut them out with paper snips.

I smooched two square pieces of Basic Black CS with Silver and Log Cabin smooch then ran them through my Big Shot using the Scribbles Swirls Sizzlits die.  The swirls were used to decorate the square and the small circles were used for the center of the small silver flowers.

The flowers with the sentiment were created with the Circle Scallop punch.  I punched a More Mustard and Basic Black circle scallop then cut to the center every two scallops then curled the petals to add dimension.  I smooched both flowers with Silver smooch.

I stamped the ‘Thank You’ sentiment from the Pedaling Past stamp set with Gold Encore ink then cut it out with paper snips and adhered to the scallop flowers with a dimensional.

I then used glue dots and dimensionals to adhere the images to the square.   The ribbon is a non-SU ribbon purchased from Michael’s.
