Wonderfall leaves and Sweater weather go together

September 22nd marks the beginning of fall and no more 100 degree days.  Ahhh so nice!  It’s been a wonderful 84 degrees and with the change of the weather it inspired me to create this card for Hand Stamped Sentiments sketch challenge.  I played with the Sweater Weather DSP featured in the Stampin’ Up! holiday catalog.  Such pretty colors – Chocolate Chip, Crushed Curry, Sahara Sand, Soft Sky, Tangerine Tango, Very Vanilla and Whisper White – make this paper perfect for all your fall projects.

I started with a Very Vanilla card base and die cut the leaves with the Autumn Accents Bigz die.  For the leaves I used cardstock and the Sweater Weather DSP.  I sponged the edges with Early Espresso and used the Houndstooth and Wood Grain embossing folders for texture.  For bling and sparkle I colored basic rhinestones with Sharpies and spritzed my card with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz.  It’s hard to photograph and show how sparkly the Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Sprintz looks but if you enlarge the photo you should be able to see it.

Special Season Christmas Card

This week’s challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments is a color challenge – Raspberry Ripple, Gumball Green and Baked Brown Sugar.  When I saw these colors I immediately thought Christmas!  I know it’s a bit early to think about this holiday but I was so excited to use my new stamp set Special Season.  I was also inspired by a Christmas card created with this stamp set in the holiday catalog.

This Christmas Tree card was very easy to make.  I embossed the Baked Brown Sugar card base with the Northern Flurry embossing folder then added Dazzling Details to add sparkle.  I also added rhinestones for more bling.  I cut the Whisper White layer as a banner, stamped the Christmas tree image and sentiment.  To dress up the  Whisper White layer I made a bow with the Raspberry Ripple satin stitched ribbon and added a Frosted Finishes snowflake embellishment.  I colored the rhinestones for the tree with a Sharpie very similar to the Raspberry Ripple.  I’ve included a close-up photo of the Whisper White layer.  Super easy card!

First Day of School My Digital Studio Card

It’s hard to believe that back to school is around the corner and summer is almost over.  Where did the time go?!  The inspiration challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments inspired me to create this card on My Digital Studio.  It was so quick and easy and one of the features of MDS is you can color the stamps.  LOVE that feature.  Wouldn’t it be nice to put this card in your child’s lunch box.  It would be a great way to wish them a happy first day of school.

Stampin’ Up! convention 2013

It’s been a fun-filled packed 3 days from when I arrived on Thursday morning.   I have been so busy during the day and have had little time to blog.  But I want to share some highlights from this very fun Stampin’ Up! 25th Celebration. Did I mention close to 6000 demonstrators attended this very big party?!

On Thursday, July 18 I visited the Stampin’ Up! corporate office with my group – Erin Gonzales, Erica Cerwin, Shannon Eberhardt and Krista Jensen.  So fun and interesting to see where all the fun products are conceptualized and shipped.

So many wonderful products were announced during this convention.

All these different size envelopes were created with the new envelope punch board that will be launched some time in September.  You can make 66 different sizes.  I can’t wait to get it.

More new products…Thinlits.  They’ve been called flip cards, flip flop cards, swing cards, and more-but they have always been a bit tricky to create. Not anymore! These amazing new Thinlits Card Dies cut and score to create a card that flips in just one step. So very cooooool!  I can’t show you the product yet because it hasn’t been launched but here are some projects created with these framelits.  Cute, cute, cute!!!  These framelits will also be launched August 1st.

Another new product is called UNDEFINED.  With this product you can carve your own custom stamp.  Now how cool is that!!!!  Click here for the flyer and click  here for a video showing how it’s done.

I am headed back to San Antonio and I am so excited.  In the next few days I will be showing projects inspired by the projects demonstrated here at convention.  Can’t wait to play with my new stamp sets and products.

Oh! I almost forgot.  Along with all the stamp sets giveaways we received this really cool backpack to fill with all my SU goodies.  LOVE IT!

Secret garden flowers

The challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments is a sketch challenge this time around.  I created this card with the Secret Garden stamp set and framelits.  I also just received the NEW Big Shot Magnetic Platform which makes cutting with the framelits a breeze! It keeps the framelit in place while cutting.  Click here to see a video showing how this new platform works.  If you like using framelits then this tool is a must-have.

I colored the flowers with a blender pen and ink pads.  Some of the flowers I stamped.  After coloring and stamping the flowers I used the Secret Garden framelits to die cut them.  The background is embossed with the Woodgrain embossing folder.  The butterfly is stamped with a butterfly from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set.  I die cut it with the Bitty Butterfly punch.  I finished the card with rhinestones.

Mosaic Madness and Thinking of You

The new stamp set Mosaic Madness is one of my favorites.  It has so many wonderful shapes and so versatile.  The card I created for Hand Stamped Sentiments Challenge is for a color challenge – Daffodil Delight, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Strawberry Slush.  Such yummy colors!  They just scream SUMMER!  The colors of Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Strawberry Slush are from the new In-Colors collection for 2013-2015.

This was an easy card to make.  I CASED it from the May/June Stampin’ Success.  I just changed the colors and added more bling.

Thoughts and Prayers Sympathy Card

I found myself needing a sympathy card and reached for the Thoughts and Prayers stamp set.  My inspiration for this card is from this week’s Hand Stamped Sentiments sketch challenge.  The sketch made it easy to put this card together in not time.

Stampin' Up! sympathy card

I used Soft Suede for the card base and Naturals Ivory card stock.  I like how these colors look together.  The tree and the greeting are embossed with Early Espresso embossing powder.  The small buttons on the upper right are from the Vintage Trinkets assortment.  I like the transparency of the seam binding ribbon on the side and also used the twine at the bottom of the image to bring focus to the tree.

Here’s the sketch I used to create my card.  I love this sketch because it has so many possibilities.  Visit Hand Stamped Sentiments to see how this sketch inspired our design team.
