Mojo Monday #142 Contest

I ‘ve been meaning to play at Mojo Monday and I finally submitted.  It’s the first Monday of the month, so that means it’s CONTEST time!  The sketch for this week is so fun!  There are so many great entries.  Hop on over take a look and take the challenge.  Contest closes at 8PM MT on Sunday, June 13.

Mojo Monday week 42 sketchSince I had to make a thank you card I took the opportunity to play.  I have the All a Flutter stamp and smooch sprays I wanted to try out.

The card base is Basic Black and the the scalloped layer is More  Mustard CS, the Chocolate Chip layer is smooched with Log Cabin smooch.

I first smooched a piece of Whisper White CS with Silver and Log Cabin smooch. Whenever I smooch I use the handy Color Catcher to prevent spraying on my table and I use my heat tool to dry the spray on my project.   I then stamped the butterfly image with Black StazOn and heat embossed with clear embossing powder then colored the image with markers, Summer Sun, Really Rust, Close to Cocoa, then cut it out with paper snips.

I took a square piece of Whisper White and stamped with VersaMark the vines from Wings of Friendship on opposite corners then heat embossed with clear embossing powder then I sponged with More Mustard ink.  I did the direct pad to paper method for an intense color.

The small flowers are also from the Wings of Friendship set.  I smooched another piece of card just with the Silver smooch then stamped three flowers with Black StazOn then cut them out with paper snips.

I smooched two square pieces of Basic Black CS with Silver and Log Cabin smooch then ran them through my Big Shot using the Scribbles Swirls Sizzlits die.  The swirls were used to decorate the square and the small circles were used for the center of the small silver flowers.

The flowers with the sentiment were created with the Circle Scallop punch.  I punched a More Mustard and Basic Black circle scallop then cut to the center every two scallops then curled the petals to add dimension.  I smooched both flowers with Silver smooch.

I stamped the ‘Thank You’ sentiment from the Pedaling Past stamp set with Gold Encore ink then cut it out with paper snips and adhered to the scallop flowers with a dimensional.

I then used glue dots and dimensionals to adhere the images to the square.   The ribbon is a non-SU ribbon purchased from Michael’s.

Sponging and Stencils

For my make and take for my workshop this past Saturday I had my guests make a card with a vintage look with the Mostly Vintage stencil, item #118877 from the new Summer mini catalog.  For $9.95 you get both the positive and negative stencil to create intricate designs for your projects.  And there’s no end to your creativity—use the stencil again and again.

For that extra touch to the front of the card I used Log Cabin Smooch Spritz, item # 119921 – $4.95, to add that extra sparkle.  You should be able to see the sparkle when you enlarge the photo.  This spray is so much fun and easy to use.  To prevent the over-spray from landing on your work space or other projects accidentally you can purchase this nifty Color Catcher, item #121093 – $5.95.  It’s lightweight and portable, so you can pull it out and put it away anytime with complete ease.

Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Splash Challenge 14

This week over at HSS we’re playing with a fun and bright color combination – Old Olive, Regal Rose, Melon Mambo, So Saffron.  For this challenge I used My Digital Studio to create this thank you card.  Using the software is so easy!  With so many papers, embellishments and stamps it’s so easy to create.  This is my first card and wasn’t sure how to print the card.  I found helpful information at SCS at this forum.  For more information on My Digital Studio click here.  Here is my creation.

Finish card size:  4.25″ H x 5.5″ W

The flower was made with the Flower Layers #3 Originals Die, Build A Flower Bigz Die and the Big Shot using the patterned paper, Old Olive and Pretty in Pink CS.  The center in Taken with Teal CS was punched using SU 3/4″ circle punch.  The flower is held together with a silver brad from the Hodgepodge kit.  The leaves were punched with the large oval punch then curled with the edge of a pair of scissors.

Stamped the flower background with So Saffron classic ink on So Saffron CS layer.

The sentiment stamp was inked with Regal Rose, Chocolate Chip, Taken with Teal markers then stamped on Pretty in Pink CS then punched with the large oval punch.  The Sweet Pea DSP oval was punched with the wide oval punch.  The outside wide oval is askew.  The small flowers were punched from Rose Red CS with the Trio flower punch.  The centers were punched from the lighter color on the DSP with a regular hole punch.  The sentiment was adhered with dimensionals.

Before adhering all the layers to the Kraft card base the Pretty in Pink satin ribbon was adhered.

For the Birds

I am a big fan of the new Two Step Bird and Fancy Flower punches.  I made these two cards with scraps and it took no time to make them.  The new slim shape makes them easy to store and they take up less room.  Both cards use scraps from the new Sending Love Designer Series Paper.  Because each sheet features beautiful prints and a sparkly side it’s so difficult to choose which side to use.  It’s also very versatile for many occasions.  I am buying more because lately I have been using them for all my cards.

Voilà, Merci! It’s all gone to the French

Here’s another card I made using the little chef from the Voila! stamp set with a Christmas twist.  This card was made to thank a dear friend for a wonderful holiday dinner.  She also shares my addiction for stamping and loves all things French.  To thank her I made this card using the paper piecing technique with scraps from the Christmas Jingle Scrappin’ kit.
