Saying Thank You With Anything BUT A Card – PPA13

Next week my sister is having a SU  party.  To say thank you for hosting I made this cute box with handle.  I am going to fill it with goodies (stamp, color spot, candy).  This would also make a great hostess gift if you’re invited for Thanksgiving dinner.  It’s a good way to not show up empty-handed.

The pattern for the box is from SU.

Autumn Leaves

My inspiration for today’s card comes from PPA.  It was a sketch challenge designed by Margaret Moody.  Since there’s a crispness in the air I decided to use my Autumn Splendor stamp set again.  I love the leaf shapes and they can be many different colors and colored with markers or water color pencils.  I love using water color pencils and blending the colors with a blender pen.  I hope this inspires you with your fall crafts.

Where the wild things are

Every morning and every evening as I walk out my front door I see deer, many species of birds and sometimes rabbits.  We live in a subdivision that is outside the city limits and having wildlife live in our yards is not unusual which inspired me to create a wildlife scene in a diorama card.  These cards seem difficult to make but they’re really easy.  Just follow the tutorial at SCS.  The dimensions for my card are smaller but just keep the proportions in the tutorial and you can make these cards in many different sizes.  The dimensions for the card I made will fit in the SU medium envelopes (Medium envelopes measure 5 3/4″ x 4-3/8).  Here are the dimensions for the card I made.

Cut 2 pieces of cardstock 7.5″ x 4.25″ for front and back covers and score 2″ from each short side.

Cut 1 piece of cardstock 5.5″ x 4.25″ for middle panel and score 1″ on each short side.

Here are my wild things.

Friendship blooms in color PPA11

I wanted to use my Friendship Blooms stamp set and I had the perfect opportunity with this week’s PPA color challenge:  Perfect Plum, Old Olive, and Pumpkin Pie.  I love these colors together!  Using Julie Cavison’s tutorial, original concept by Jackie Topa,  I made a side step card.    I hope this inspires you to make this type of card.  It’s super easy.

The Splendid Table

When you’re getting ready for Thanksgiving don’t just think about what you’re going to wear.  Your table also needs to be dressed to look inviting.  My Thanksgiving table will look splendid with my new napkin rings, place cards and decorated candles all done with Stampin’ Up! products.  My guests will also be invited with coordinating invitations.  Stampin’ Up! Products are so versatile.  The Autumn Meadows Designer Series Paper all so beautiful I had a difficult time deciding on which pattern to use.  I wanted a dressy coordinating ribbon and ended up using an ivory organza ribbon that I dyed with the Soft Suede ink pad.  I hope this inspires you to dress up your table for Thanksgiving.

A note of Gratitude and Thanks PPA10

Being grateful and thankful is not only for Thanksgiving.  To live a balanced life we all must be thankful of everything everyday.  Thankful for family, friends, work and for the opportunity to create and live our lives the very best we can.  We must take a moment everyday smell the roses and be grateful.  Every experience and moment shapes our being and allows us to grow.  Not only this Thanksgiving but every day I try to take note and be grateful for everything in my life.  This project is for the PPA weekly challenge Gratitude and Thanks.  I was so excited because I just received the SU Autumn Splendor stamp set.  This is my first project using this set.

Audrey Hepburn lives on

One of my friends is having a milestone birthday and she is thinking she should be at a different point in her life.  I think she is smart, courageous, good friend, wonderful daughter and great mom.  Her birthday is on Saturday and I wanted to send her a card that would make her realize just how fabulous she is.  So I thought about when I want to feel and look good and I always reach for a little black dress whether it be a casual sundress or an elegant cocktail dress.  When I put it on it makes me feel elegant and beautiful just like Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The little black dress is a classic.  It never ages it only gets better, just like Audrey.  Here’s to Audrey and my friend.  I hope she has a fabulous birthday.

Fluttering with Fall

Often I take inspiration for my cards from what I see in my garden.  I try to always have my camera since you never know where you can get your next idea or photo op.  I’m glad I had my camera on this day since these butterfly pictures were all taken on the same day!   The Pride of Barbados flower with its orange, yellow and red color coordinated perfectly with the in colors, dusty durango, crushed curry, melon mambo and rich razzleberry SU papers and inks.  Enjoy the butterflies.  They’re almost gone.
